
A search is underway for a man who is believed to have fallen from a boat into a canal in London.
Police were called at 7.04pm last night to the River Lea waterway near the Lea Bridge in Hackney.
Temperatures in the capital dropped to below zero last night with the man still not found.
A police spokesman confirmed this morning that the search remains ongoing, saying a marine unit has been deployed to try and find him.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement last night: ‘Police called at 7.04pm after a man was reported to have fallen from a boat into the River Lea canal near the A104/ Lea Bridge #E5.
